I enjoyed meeting you all (actually, in Southern-American-ese, that should be "all y'all") and working with you for the week in Pod 3. Drop me a line when you get a chance and put me on your "advanced purchases" list for your CD, when it becomes available. Hope to be with you again in the future and see you for sure in Nashville in '08. Keep in touch... Cheers, Gary Plaag posted 7/8/07 Myself and my mate Simon met you guys on Friday after you'd played the retirement party in Frensham Ponds. You were 4 of the nicest, most genuinely decent blokes you could ever wish to meet and you absolutely made my birthday. Your rendition of 'Happy Birthday' (captured on my phone) has been met with huge critical success (Pete, my nan thinks you are very handsome). Good luck in all your future endeavours chaps - you are i) superstars ii) worthy British Champions and iii) testament to the fact that good things happen to good people. You deserve every success possible. Adam Burrage posted 4/9/07 Dear Dick, Keith, Peter and Andrew
Thank you so much for your performance on Friday evening at my retirement dinner. It was just the icing on the cake for me to have enjoyed a good dinner with colleagues and then to be entertained by QED! The opportunity to sing with you was a bonus which was greatly appreciated – both by me and by my work colleagues who didn’t realise how good this Barbershop thing can be.
The Director-General was very impressed as you gathered (his wife too – she has an origin in Philadelphia) and I am also pleased that our Finance Director also thought the performance was extreme quality and entertainment. She is the one who really mattered as she authorised the booking in the first place?
All in all, Gents, the whole event was just the tops for me and a fitting end to my second career! To have the BABS champion quartet there too was, again, the tops and I couldn’t have wished for a more complete and satisfying evening. Your efforts in getting to the venue on Friday were superb and I hope you all managed to get back safely.
I hope the rest of your championship year goes well for you and wish you every success for the future. Yours sincerely Peter posted 4/9/07 Hi Dick, Have just spent a very reminiscent hour trolling through the various barbershop websites -the first time I have looked at them since I stopped singing back in the late 90s. I just wanted to say 'congratulations' on your quartet success at this years convention. I almost didn't recognise you in the photo, you were looking very trim !! If anybody deserved the success of QED it is you as I know from old that you are totally dedicated to Barbershop singing. I took early retirement this year and my wife and I are moving to Scotland, hopefully within the next 6 months or so, who knows I might take it up again when I get there. Anyway, congratulations once again to you and your quartet. Regards Mark Thomas posted 19/9/07 |
